An extremely important 18ct. gold pocket watch, the case stamped no. 40198 and the Swiss level movement no. 70172 made for Tiffany & Co New York by Touchon & Co. of Switzerland. The reverse bears an enamelled monogram AHR (Arthur Henry Rostron). The inside of the case inscribed "Presented to Captain Rostron with the heartfelt gratitude and appreciation of three survivors of the Titanic April 15th 1912 Mrs John B. Thayer, Mrs John Jacob Astor and Mrs George D. Widener."
